Warren FishbeinDr Warren H. Fishbein, a Washington, D.C.-based independent consultant focused on foresight and warning for global security issues. Dr Fishbein worked for 29 years in the U.S. Intelligence Community as an analyst, analytic manager, and innovation leader prior to his retirement in 2011. From 2008 to 2011, he served as Coordinator of the Global Futures Forum—a multinational community of intelligence and security services that addresses transnational and emerging security challenges through unclassified collaboration. In that same period, he co-organized and led the “Actionable Foresight” project that brought together foresight specialists from across the US government to discuss how better to incorporate their products into decision making. In earlier phases of his career, Dr Fishbein led scenario-based foresight exercises on a variety of topics, managed analytic teams focused on regional and methodological issues, and analyzed trans-Atlantic area political and security trends.

Dr Fishbein is the author of Wage Restraint By Consensus: Britain’s Search for an Incomes Policy Agreement, 1965-79  (London, Routledge, 1984), and, with Gregory Treverton, Making Sense of Transnational Threats, (Washington, Sherman Kent Center, 2004.)  His chapter on “Prospective Sense Making” appears in Christoph Meyer and Chiara de Franco (eds.), Forecasting, Warning and Responding to Transnational Risks (London, Palgrave Macmillan, 2011).  He has delivered numerous presentations at governmental and academic forums on foresight and warning. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Ross photo scProfessor Ross Harrison is on the faculty of the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. From 2007-2013, he was Professor in the Practice of International Affairs at Georgetown, serving as chair of the International Commerce and Business concentration in the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) Program. Ross is also on the faculty of the Political Science Department at the University of Pittsburgh, teaching courses in Middle East Politics. He annually teaches a course on strategy and international security to senior Georgian government officials at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies in Tbilisi, Georgia funded by the U.S. Department of State.

Harrison just released a single-author book titled Strategic Thinking in 3D: A Guide for National Security, Foreign policy and Business Professionals (Potomac Books- 2013), which currently is a required strategy text at the U.S. National War College. Related to the book release, he has lectured at the U.S. Department of State, the National War College and National Defense University, Georgetown University and the Matthew B. Ridgway Center for International Security Studies. He has also been published in policy related journals such as The National Interest, Al Monitor, The Middle East Institute Journal and Parameters (U.S. Army War College Journal). Prior to his academic career, Harrison was President of Builders Edge and Executive Vice President of Tapco International, a global building products company, where he was instrumental in the company’s global expansion and its mergers and acquisition strategy. Harrison lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife Mahnaz.
